Doki Doki Literature Club! (ドキドキ文学クラブ！) is a twelve-episode anime television series animated by Madhouse based on the game of the same name. The anime was released on September 22, 2019, as a way to promote the game. The series is directed by Rintaro and Takashi Watanabe. Salvato is invited by his cheerful childhood sweetheart, Sayori, to join their high school's literature club as a remedy for his insular nature. Salvato reluctantly agrees to her proposal and meets the other members of the club
