The station originally signed on as a TV Tupi affiliate in 1960. In 1981, the station joined SBT as one of the network's charter affiliates. The station moved to Rede Record as far as 1997, while the other counterpart, TV Aratu (then a Rede CNT affiliate), moved to SBT. The 1997 Rede Record logo was used until 2002. This was their final logo as TV Itapoan as Record decided to rebrand the station to match with their other stations. The Itapoan name returned in line with the corporate rebrand of R
